Trouble seeing in the distance? You might be short sighted

Are you short sighted?

Did you know that about 15 per cent of Australians have myopia or short-sightedness?

You could well be one of those people and not even know it. This is a condition where the light is focused in front of the retina and can cause blurriness when trying to look at things in the distance.
Typically, your sight will be fine for objects close by but the ones on the horizon will present challenges.

The hazards of not treating short sightedness

This can present several hazards, like not being able to clearly make out road signs and other important markings. Left untreated, myopia can progress and make it even harder to see as well.

For Australians aged over 49, developing cataracts becomes more likely in those that have pre-existing myopia. There is also a greater chance of developing glaucoma.

The good news is that you can treat mild myopia before it progresses with corrective lenses. At New Eye Company, we have a large range of frames to suit every walk of life.

From professional to fancy, from vintage to unique frames like bamboo - we have you covered. So you can see clearly, work and drive safely and look your best at the same time.
